Cancer Center Healing Garden – A Place of Peace and Purpose

When we were invited by the Columbia St. Mary’s Foundation to design and build a healing garden for their cancer center, we knew this was an opportunity to create something truly meaningful. The vision was clear: create a space that offers comfort, serenity, and hope to patients, their families, and the dedicated staff who walk this journey with them.
What emerged was a sanctuary—lush gardens, quiet walking paths, and spots to pause, breathe, and just be. Every element was intentionally crafted to foster moments of calm and reflection. At the heart of it all stands a breathtaking waterfall, lovingly built stone by stone by our team, cascading nearly 35 feet into a tranquil pond. Engineered with a natural biofilter, the pond remains crystal clear—symbolic of the clarity and renewal we hoped to inspire in all who visit.
Creating this space required more than craftsmanship; it called for compassion. Knowing the vulnerability of many visitors, especially those with weakened immune systems, we partnered with infectious disease specialists from the hospital to develop a care protocol that ensures safety without compromising the garden’s natural beauty.
This project became a deeply rewarding experience. And watching patients find peace, families share quiet moments, and caregivers take a breath amidst the beauty made every stone, every plant, and every drop of water deeply meaningful. At the heart of our work is a genuine passion for taking a client’s vision—especially one as heartfelt as this—and bringing it to life in a way that exceeds expectations.
This garden stands as a testament to the power of nature, thoughtful design, and human connection. It’s more than a space—it’s a source of healing.
